EM Festa 2000, Ginowan City, Okinawa The Mayor of Zamami Island gave a presentation about the cooperative effort of the island citizens and EM Research Organization (EMRO) to treat the island's reservoir dam, the only source for agriculture irrigation and drinking water. [slide show]
The reservoir had developed very pour quality water, which was evident from the foul odor and turbidity of the water. These are clear signs that a microbial imbalance exists and the system had turned putrefactive.
EM-Ceramics and EM-Extension were used to treat the foul water with very good results. They use the town fire truck to make EM-Extensions and apply to fields and waterways.
Zamami's adoption of EM in a holistic manner has created a unique model of EM activity. In addition to cleaning the water, the farmers on the island use EM fermented compost as organic soil amendment for their vegetables and rice. The city buys EM-X in large quantities and distributes to 600 people on the island at wholesale prices. Many people also take EM-X.
Zamani Island, one of the largest islands in the Keramas Islands, is located in the East China Sea about a 90 minute ferry ride West from Naha, the capital city of Okinawa. The area is spectacularly beautiful and world famous for coral reefs, fishing, whale watching, kayaking and the kind and friendly Ryukyus people. This island is a little paradise and has good water, organic food and healthy people thanks to EM!
