IN THE EM STORE-
FEATURED PRODUCTS:
EM-X, Seasilver, Barleans Flax Oil
In todays world nutrition has become a headline issue. There are literally thousands of products on the market. Many are simple synthetic products with no real value. Others (the good ones) are whole food products that truly have nutritional benefits. At SCD we have decided to take a simple approach to the health care products that we carry.
- They must be organic and sustainably produced whole food products.
- They must be very high quality and easily absorbed by the body.
That is why we only carry a few.
We are going to be adding several more lines in the future but first we want to make sure that their producers meet our simple criteria. I wanted to discuss briefly a few of the products we carry.
First, our favorite:
EM-X Whole Food Supplement:
You will be amazed by the vast array of nutrients found in EM-X. These nutrients support the bodys immune system so that it can effectively fight diseases, viruses, free radicals, oxidization, etc., that plague us on a daily basis. If you know someone that is taking EM-X or are taking it yourself, then you already know how incredible it is.
Seasilver: The best tasting, most bio-available trace mineral, enzyme, vitamin supplement Ive found yet. We use it in conjunction with EM-X. We have found that they tremendously enhance each others nutritional benefits. You can read more about Seasilver on our website.
Barleans: Flax seed oil contains the Omega 3-6-9 fatty acids that are absolutely essential for our bodies to function properly. We chose Barleans because they grow their flax organically, cold press it, and ship it out very fresh. We sell it cheaper than health food stores in an effort to improve our customers health. If SCDs customers are healthy then we are doing a good work.
Try using these products together and post your health related testimonials in our guestbook. We love hearing and sharing with others how these products are changing peoples lives.

Earth Day at the Zoo
SCD held a booth on April 27, 2002 for the Earth Day events at the Kansas City Zoo. Though the weather was rainy, lots of people turned out to celebrate.
Dan Kaur and Barclay shared information about EM technology with interested individuals and made compost with children. Participants examined nails submerged in EM water vs. nails without EM
the nails in the EM water didnt rust due to the powerful antioxidants in EM.
The second EM experiment compared plants watered with and without EM, demonstrating the nutrient absorption value EM provides to plants.
These activities and many others can be found in From Waste to Wonderful Teachers Manual, published by the EM Bokashi Network, available through SCD.
There was a drawing for a bokashi bucket. Lucky zoo visitor Gwen Tyson-Terell was the winner.
If you are interested in composting your kitchen waste, we are offering a special price to newsletter recipients on an EM Bokashi kitchen composting kit.
1 kitchen composting bucket, 1 bag of bokashi compost, and a special issue of EcoPure magazine devoted to composting with EM.
All for the discounted price of $39.99

EXPERIENCE IS THE BEST TEACHER
Winter has passed, spring will soon give way to summer, and now we find ourselves with some of the best times of the year for learning how to work with EM. EM is truly a window into the majesty of creation. If you have a chance to plant a garden or just grow some flowers, take it and let it renew your life. I encourage you to experience the joys and rewards of working with these forces of nature to create balance and bounty. These experiences will take you and your friends deeper into partaking of the very life sustaining nature of EM. Working with EM, the soil, and the plants allows us to discover the simple joys of life, which are actually natures gifts for us just waiting to be unwrapped.
I also encourage you to get a gallon of EM Kyusei (or maybe just a quart) and undertake various EM learning activities. If you have children then there are many learning experiences awaiting your family.
The following is a summary of what EM can do to improve the life in the soil. Two links are provided for additional insights into EM. The APNAN users manual, while being written for the tropics, provides many practical activities on how to make EM preps for your garden and farming applications.
Let me know what you learn this summer, I would enjoy hearing back from you.
Blessings,
--------

RICE BRANS POWERFUL ANTIOXIDANT PROPERTIES
|
Rice bran is considered to be one of the most nutrient dense, bio-available whole foods
on earth.
|
Rice bran--- highly touted these days in nutritional circles for its ability to boost the immune system and support the cardio-vascular system, among other things. Rice bran is one of natures truly incredible nutrient sources. It is rich in anti-oxidants, minerals, essential fatty acids, amino acids, phytonutrients, etc.
Take for instance the anti-oxidant lipoic acid. Lipoic Acid is known as the metabolic antioxidant. It actually regenerates other antioxidants and is being researched for its ability to regenerate nerve cells. It also protects the liver and detoxifies the body of heavy metals. It is a universal antioxidant and a co-enzyme involved in energy production. Without it, other antioxidants do not network properly. Lipoic Acid is one of over 94 different antioxidants found in rice bran! Rice bran also contains essential fatty acids (EFA). EFAs are necessary for normal function and development of the brain and a deficiency in them could lead to impaired ability to learn and recall information. Know anyone with at bad memory? Make sure they have access to a high quality rice bran product!
Rice bran extracts have also proven very effective in lowering cholesterol and supporting the cardiovascular system. Many of us and the people we know suffer from cholesterol problems. Maybe, a rice bran extract could be part of the solution.
Many of you are already familiar with EM-X Whole Food Supplement, and for some this may be your first introduction. EM-X is a revolutionary fermented rice bran extract from Japan. The fermentation process makes the nutrients in rice bran more absorbable and bio-available. EM-X is only needed in small amounts daily, 10 cc is enough for a healthy person. That makes a bottle a 50 day supply. If a person is experiencing severe health problems then 20-30 cc is more appropriate. Try a bottle of EM-X and tell any of your friends that may be in need of quality nutritional support. We hear incredible testimonies everyday from people who are taking control of their health problems. Please feel free, after using 1 or 2 bottles, to share your experiences with us. It warms our hearts to hear back from our customers how much EM-X has helped with their health.

All of us here at SCD want to extend our warm thanks to all our friends and customers who make our jobs rewarding and help us to reach others interested in sustainable agriculture, healthy livestock, clean eco-systems, and healthy bodies. Our unofficial motto at SCD is be the solution. It is a lifestyle
and what you put into any environment is what you will get out of it. We feel that EM can revolutionize farming, ranching, and waste water treatment, as well as improving the standard of living for millions people. Less food waste through composting, fewer toxins in water using EM-X ceramics, and elimination of hazardous household cleaners by cleaning with EM
.EM is so multifaceted, the possible applications are endless. It is all about balancing ecology. And with your continued support we hope to be doing this for many years to come.

A FINAL THOUGHT: SCD ON A GRAND SCALE
As the world population grows there is an increasing incidence of human problems and degenerative disease that result from exposure to toxic by-products of industrial waste, chemical-based farming, and urban pollution. The mechanism of toxicity of these pollutants is generally characterized as an increase in oxidation and free-radical activity, which causes stress and depressed immunity in biological systems. Therefore, there is a growing and urgent need to develop and promote technologies that can distinctly address these problems by:
- Remediating existing toxicity/pollution in the environment
- Facilitating more sustainable and economically viable use of finite natural resources and industrial processes
- Reducing the impact that pollution has on human health
- Helping individuals to heal and eliminate toxicity from their bodies, and
- Ensure a sufficient and sustainable supply and distribution of high quality and safe foods.
The control of degeneration or regeneration lies in the grasp of the miniscule creatures known collectively as microorganisms. In the early 1980s it was found through scientific experimentation that if beneficial or effective microorganisms are present in the soil or environment and are allowed to proliferate in sufficient numbers, they can bring about an increase in antioxidation levels and a resultant intensification in energy concentrations. In other words, their activity instigates a regenerative process, which allows for increased plant growth and biological regeneration. In farming this results in reducing disease and pest infestations while also reducing the need for chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Agricultural chemicals are known to cause many problems to natural ecological cycles, human health and biological diversity. In addition, the quality of food produced using these chemicals is known to have lower nutritional value. These methods are clearly unsustainable and according to the World Health Organization, possibly the largest threat to human health in the coming century. With most of the world's soil in the final stages of degradation, this is an incredible discovery for agriculture and humanity. EM can be used anywhere that one wants to encourage beneficial microorganisms and/or regenerative conditions over degenerative conditions. Other uses include, but are not limited to the following:
- Less chemicals applied to the soil in turn reduces chemical run-off into natural waterways, reducing pollution and environmental damage. Likewise when effective microorganisms are introduced into an environment and given the right conditions, they continue to proliferate and the run-off has been reported to improve the flora and fauna of environments down stream from EM treated areas. Cleaner water systems support health by reducing the threat of toxicity and disease from swimming, drinking and consumption of fish.
- What EM does for soil and plants, it can also do for animals. EM is used as an additive to livestock feed. It encourages the proliferation of beneficial bacteria in the digestive tract, improving digestion and absorption of nutrients. As with plants, animals given EM are proven to be generally healthier and more productive, having stronger immunity to disease and needing fewer antibiotics. EM also reduces the smell and bacterial content of animal's waste, making it non- toxic and easier to compost into usable fertilizer.
- EM can reduce the production of greenhouse gasses and ozone destruction, improving human health by preventing skin cancers and combating global warming. Cattle are the largest producers of methane gas in the world. When EM is added to cattle feed, the microbial population of the gut is shifted, improving digestion and in turn reducing methane and greenhouse gas emissions. Methane production is also a major problem in rice cultivation. Methane gas is produced due to the extensive use of chemical fertilizers combined with decaying organic matter. EM has been used effectively in Japan and throughout Asia to reduce methane production in rice paddies.
- What EM does for soil, plant and animal health it can do for human health as well. EM-X is a rice bran product that has been processed utilizing effective microorganisms to produce a variety of beneficial substances, including antioxidants, vitamins, colloidal minerals, and other bio-active compounds. It has been found to aid in building and supporting proper intestinal flora and healing digestive related disorders. It is also reported to have strong antioxidant properties, which aid in neutralizing toxic substances and controlling free radical production. Free radicals are associated with every disease state known to man. To reduce or control free radical production aids the immune system in controlling disease and healing the body.
